"String Theory"

24" x 30"

Acrylic and Mixed Media on Canvas

$1,080.00 ( On Gallery Wrapped Deep Canvas, 1.5").

This painting arose from my curiosity about the nature of our universe. I was watching a science program a few years ago, which started my thinking about this. String Theory, is an expression of the idea in mathematical physics, that sound, constantly reverberating sound, at the tiniest particle level make up the fabric of our universe. This unproven scientific idea postulates the idea that creation of space, matter, our earth, and gravity, as well as all living beings, indeed, everything, came into being, and are sustained, by sound. As a Christian, this does not contradict my theology. It makes sense to my understanding of the Bible. In Genesis 1, it says, referring to the creation of the world, "...and God said...," Then in the N.T. when it speaks about Christ, in John 1:1-3 it says that  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; (existing before creation) all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made." Further teaching is found in Hebrews 1:2-3, "He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God's] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty Word of power..."  (Amplified Bible). In Ephesians 1:11, it says that "God works (energizes) all things according to the counsel of His will." And in Colossians 1:15-17 it states that  (Jesus Christ) is the image of the invisible God,... in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities, all things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together." Something to ponder in our hearts, to question about the nature of reality...

Fishing on the Other Side of the Boat, (copyrighted) by Michelle Curry, www.mcurryarts.com

"Fishing on the Other Side of the Boat,"

12" x 9"

Watercolor on Paper.

$200.00 (Matted and Framed)

The disciples of Jesus had been fishing all night, catching nothing. Then He tells them to fish on the other side of the boat. It seems like nonsense! To our human mind, we cannot understand how it would be any different to follow Christ. We often do everything humanly possible to do "right," but it ends up going all wrong, or in futility, and we are exhausted by the effort. God often has a way for us that doesn't make sense humanly speaking, but if we would just follow Him, by faith, we will catch a great harvest...the story is found in John 21.

This is a playful abstract, highlighting what is known as the "Golden Ratio." Discovered by the Greeks, and recovered in the Renaissance by masters of art and music, it also fascinates me. A natural repeating sequence, it can be seen from whirls in outer space, to patterns in seashells.

Transformation of the Elements, (copyrighted), by Michelle Curry, www.mcurryarts.com

“Transformation of the elements”

22” x 29”

Acrylic on canvas

 $1,037.00 (Framed).

This reminds me of the cycle, and recycling of everything, happening sooner or later. Earth, water, fire, and air all have a part to play. With water it is seen in rainfall, evaporation, freezing, thawing, and falling again to earth. I am intrigued with science, and the beauty and order in God’s creation, as well as the wildness and fierceness of it. These processes show all of this.

The Veil of Intrigue,(copyrighted), by Michelle Curry, www.mcurryarts.com

“The Veil of Intrigue”

19” x 24”

Watercolor on Paper

(Privately Owned).

Warm and cool colors, the play of light, and depth, rhythm and movement, and structure all making this an exciting abstraction. Like music without words, it is meant to be experienced, rather than read. This painting changes it's look totally with different lighting! Transparent layers in painting are like colored jeweled stones that refract the light, which bounces back out to create the effect.

Painted Desert

This painting has the feeling of sun, warm sand, and turquoise. The colors are reminiscent of the South Western States. The colors are warm and personal without being too sugary, or sentimental in any way.
